June 2024 Art Display: Nancy Dorl

Central American Travels - Quilts by Nancy Dorl

On Display:

Jaguar Sanctuary: This quilt was made after Nancy had been to Belize and hiked in a jaguar sanctuary. There are a lot of different quilting techniques, including three dimensional leaves, fabric painted dragonflies, embroidered vines, pieced blocks, metallic quilting stitches, and the tree trunk was made to look rough by a steam activated method using something called texture magic.

Panama Memories: Shortly after returning from a trip to Panama, Olbrich Gardens had a fiber arts show. Again, Nancy tried various techniques new to her, including photos printed on fabric, New York Beauty block for the sun in the upper right hand corner, and her attempt at a local craft - a mola of a Harpy Eagle.
